Who is John D. Harmon?
Born in the mountains of West Virginia during the era of Vietnam, Disco and Watergate, John D. Harmon faced hurdles even before he understood what adversity was.
Although a single child, his grandparents raised him alongside his six aunts and one uncle. From a very early age, Harmon showed a strong interest in creating Artwork. This interest grew exponentially as he fought his way through paralyzing introversion and poverty.
Harmon started accepting commissions to create Artwork at the young age of fourteen. These commissions continued throughout his teen years, as did his exploration of self-expression through Art. This Artistic growth would lead him further in life than he ever dreamed possible. In 1991, Harmon became the first and only member of his family to attend College. He graduated from Berea College in 1995 with a B.A. in Art.
Much of Harmon's stylistic inspiration comes from the works and philosophies of the Great Masters of the past. Harmon's creative inspiration comes from life itself - the very things that surround him. His representational work is influenced by Renaissance, Baroque and Art Nouveau styles, while his non-representational pieces are influenced by the texture, shape and color of nature and emotion.
After graduating from College, Harmon devoted much of the following decade to the pursuit of music, spending less time on his Fine Art. However, since relocating to the West Coast in 2008, Harmon has once again focused his full attention on the creation and exhibition of his visual Art and Photography.
